he'll be pushing for increases. So f'n revenue isn't IN the deal. Oh well, I guess that's where we need to keep calling, emailing, tweeting - raise the f'n taxes! Cut the loopholes.

The thought is that the rules of the so-called Super Committee will actually wind up requiring tax increases to make them able to dispense their mission.  I actually DO have hope on that front from what I've read so far.

        •  The Super Committe has a target number (2+ / 0-)

There is nothing that requires them to include tax hikes -- except to reach the target number without cuts would require draconian austerity for the poor and middle classes.

However, since an up or down vote will be required, if the Committee introduces tax revenues -- their recommendations will lose. Then it defaults to defense cuts and serf punishment.

Regarding those defense cuts, I am assuming Afghanistan will probably hand us our asses in a few months and we can get out of there with our tails between our legs. So, those defense cuts will be painless for the Republicans. Only the serfs will be tortured.

They can recommend all they want & then Congress ignores most of the recommendation.  Should spend the money given to committees to the poor - would be a million times more effective.

This is a crisis I knew had to come, Destroying the balance I'd kept. Doubting, unsettling and turning around, Wondering what will come next.
