The truth value of these results has nothing to do with your feelings about their political implications.

You sound like a global warming denier, insisting that those scary statistics can't be true because it would help the socialists if they were.

      of obama's performance

and you think that's helping him?! you think it helps to mention  global warming with this president who has done nothing to address the most urgent problem that ever faced mankind?

in the real world, it doesn't, it just reminds everyone what a feckless failure this fraud has been

fyi, there is a difference between scientific data and self-labeling polls

      think about it

      •  Wow, way to prove my point! (8+ / 0-)

I didn't write my comment to help Barack Obama.  My comment had absolutely nothing to do with furthering any political goal at all.  I was discussing objective facts and how to understand them, completely unrelated to Barack Obama or any other politician.

And what do you respond with?  Exactly what I explained to you before: "What does that mean for Barack Obama?  What does that mean for my stance in a political argument?"

Being reality-based means understanding objective reality first, and then drawing conclusions about politics from that.

You're doing it backwards; you're deciding what you'll admit is true based on how convenient it is for your politics.

the poster is right.  This is how people self-identify, not how they believe on the issues.  This shows nothing but how much conservatives have managed to poison the word liberal.

      •  It's not the word. Other words poll just as low. (2+ / 0-)

It shows how the image of liberalism has been harmed, certainly, but it's not just the word.

      •  And that poisoning means nothing (1+ / 0-)

You say the word liberal has been poisoned.  So what?  That has no effect at all, on anything.  All it means is it affests polling questions like this one.  That is its one and only effect.

        Do I understand you correctly?

        Don't panic. Demonstrate.

anything labeled "liberal" will be defacto rejected on its face, without even attempting to find out what it is about.  It's shorthand, and its harmful.  I'm finally beginning to understand how people who believe in one thing might vote in a way that's different.  It's tribal/herd politics.
