  •  Those are some very different countries! (17+ / 0-)

If you haven't been to Iceland yet and you visit, I'm sure you'll fall in love with it.  I sure did  ;)  As for "social mores", yeah, they have some different takes on issues.  Relationships, especially.  Since you say "We", I assume you're already married, so it won't affect you much.  But they have a culture that has little stigma associated with hookups, so long as there's no cheating involved (if you hookup with the same person several times in a row, you're sort of de-facto assumed to be dating), and where parents often live together or get married only if they want to live together or get married, respectively, not simply for the sake of the child; conversely, there's usually more family and government support for raising children, and way less stigma, so it's not as difficult for single parents as over here.  But again, if you've already looked into Iceland, you probably already know this stuff.   :)

I assume you'd want to live in Reykjavík or one of the suburbs?  Reykjavík really is a beautiful city (at least when the weather isn't all þungbúið  ;)  ), and very easy to get around.
