    statement that SS needing adjustments is undeniable, but you are probably right about Medicare. It's the details of adjustments that worries me and honestly I am not sure I trust Obama to do the right thing.

      but it needs adjustment in about 25 years or so.

      have lost faith. OTOH, we know we don't want Republicans to do it. They'll gut the program.

        Repubs. Obviously, a primary is not a viable idea  and I believe he will win re-election. The emphasis for those who want more liberal policies will have to be to work vigilantly to elect same minded congress people. Sadly, the odds are not in our favor, but I plan to keep putting one foot in front of the other until the day we get to the point that we can get some progressive policies enacted and maybe change the hearts and minds of more Americans.

        has been trying to gut SS for 80 years.

        When a republican tries to do it, the Dems unite and stop it.

        When a Democratic president does it......democrats AND republicans go along with it.

        A Dem who is open to cutting SS is more dangerous to SS than a republican who wants to cut SS>
