      and I'm against the death penalty...but if he were to get it...well let's just say I'd have a tough time seeing the injustice in that.

      is an expression of the belief that if we get angry enough and mean enough the world will conform to our desires and vision. But it's not really very satisfying emotionally, and it doesn't do any good whatever in limiting criminal activity.
      I think Norway's refusal of the death penalty says "we are better than murderers" more clearly than eye for an eye retribution would -- besides, the drittsekk only has two eyes.
