    but first I need to hear from President Obama in explicit detail any cuts that he will simply never accept. No more blind faith here.

    I understand that although he is the president this isn't a dictatorship, still he can have influence unlike anyone else.

    If the commission is stacked with the usual suspects (as I expect it will be), it will start with greatly reduced credibility--and probably slip further from there.

    President Obama can paint in broad strokes the cuts which would be acceptable without betraying much strategy. He might even inspire greater efforts, depending on the commitment we see him displaying.
