  •  The problem with this deal and Medicare (4+ / 0-)

    is that it does cut provider payments from Medicare. Those payments are going to our physicians for giving us care. I do agree that waste needs to be trimmed from Medicare, but cutting payments to our doctors means that more physicians will decide that the decreased Medicare payments, already lower than insurance company payments without the provider cut, are so low that they cannot afford or do not want to keep seeing Medicare patients.

    And that will cause a big scramble to the few doctors who are accepting new Medicare patients, a pool which will be continually shrinking. It will ruin patients' laboriously put-together medical teams. Mine consists of my GP, my nephrologist, the transplant team, my vascular surgeon, my pain doc, and my dentist; all but one of those are paid through Medicare.

    It'll become as hard to find a doctor taking Medicare patients as it is now to find one taking Medicaid patients. In both cases, physicians should be encouraged and incentivized to see these patients, who are some of the most vulnerable around.
