  •  It's beyond mind boggling (8+ / 0-)

And it's another reason why we need to start a progressive third-party.  If this is the mindset of those who control the Democratic party, progressives are doomed to wander in the desert longer than the Israelites.

    •  We may end up there. (3+ / 0-)

I'm becoming more agnotic on the issue.  Without a threat from the left, we get what we arre getting.

But I'm not there yet.  If the unions ever created a labor party, I'd be there.

The American people must wise up and rise up!

effort, more experienced now--that restores a pro-labor, liberal core to the Democratic Party. Despite our limited successes with this approach, the structural barriers to a third party are such that too much energy would be wasted overcoming them.

If we can't mount successful primary challenges (as think tank strategists surely advised billionaire deep pockets with their Teaparty™), what is the likelihood of developing a third party? Too much time will be squandered relative to a successful reform of the Democratic Party.

We should focus on providing candidates that will not mortally split local Democratic organizations, and revitalize these locally. There is a core of former Dean supporters across the country that can begin to work on this, and have some experience with the local barriers to reform.

Start with Labor, Dean, and Green. . .

The labor of a human being is not a commodity or article of commerce. Clayton Act, Section 6.

    •  There is nothing that says that a third party (0+ / 0-)

could not caucus with Democrats if they earned it.

Somehow we have to get all the disgruntled progressives together as a bloc and leverage our collective weight.

Democracy - 1 person 1 vote. Free Markets - More dollars more power.
