    that would be compelling to voters so that we could elect more and better Democrats.

    With them we are forced to accept bedrock Conservative principles and use Conservative framing and argument which creates separation between our values, rhetoric and policy.

    That disconnect between our values, rhetoric and policy is why Democrats are not perceived as 'strong' by the electorate.

    Republicans say something and they mean it. They back it with policy. The policy fits their values. Of course they are nefarious in hiding their true goals, but the rhetoric and values are consistent and the policy fits.

    Winning is about much more than getting legislation passed. Health Insurance Reform, IMO was a pyrrhic victory at best. It, in no way, shape or form approximates single payer or represents Democratic values. Instead it makes single payer a larger hurdle and codified Conservative market based solutions to social problems.

        to be, man. It happens all the time. Republicans seem to be doing fine there.
