    but this drives me nuts...

The White House should announce that it won’t extend any of the Bush tax cuts and will instead insist on a Gang-of-Six-esque plan that cleans the code, lowers rates for everyone, and raises $2 trillion or more in revenue. If the GOP refuses, the tax cuts will expire, our revenue problems will be solved, and Republicans will suddenly find themselves much more interested in tax reform. Sometimes, to govern like a Democrat — or even just to govern responsibly — you need to negotiate like a Republican.

So this is what the WH will be selling....supply side nonsense...

I am assuming this is from, wait for it....broadening the base and increased growth expectation.

Maybe Ezra means something different, but if not he is  more of the problem than the solution. He just basically announced the GOP plan and said hey Mr. President threaten them with it.

I am more convinced every day that we are simply screwed because there is no progressive with a major voice, political or media wise, that is willing to actually make a "progressive" argument.

Mark it down. I suspect Ezra will backtrack from this just like the HIR arguments made, and the Dec arguments, and CR spin.

those are Ezra's words, not mine.

I actually think it is a safe offer to make given the GOP is against any and all revenue increases.

yesterday...and incorporated into an article today..

My response was really questioning the offer as you implied...I think you are dead on about how to negotiate...
