..... still do what their husband tells them to do when it comes to politics. Women who are 'stay at home moms', especially if they have a limited education, are easily led by the males in their lives.

and how do you know that to be a fact? I happen to know many women, including stay-at-home mothers, who can definitely make up their own minds on politics regardless of what their husband believes.

I didn't say "all" or "most", I said "too many". I personally know several who work part time now that their children are old enough. Their husbands control the TV channel choice when it comes to news and they hear nothing but Fox. They are low information voters and follow their husband's lead.

and you might be surprised to know there are a ton of us along with "old white guys" and senior citizens and people of other colors helping on the Wisconsin recalls.

But since you bring up the marriage thing here is a little story from phonebanking, maybe you have had the same experience.

Earlier on we were calling to see which way people were leaning, Democrat or Republican. I called a couple of houses where the husband answered the phone and said he was Republican. His wife wasn't home so I asked him which way she was leaning. He said, "Oh I can't tell you that, she is independent." It was so funny. He used the word "independent" to mean "she won't tell me which way she votes". I didn't mark that down as a "1" for her, because we are not supposed to read into stuff like that, but, I knew from the way my own mom operated, that the wives in these cases were most likely Democrats but told there husbands that they were "independent" to keep the peace.

My mom used to say, "The ballot is secret for a reason."

      •  yes I have had the same experience (0+ / 0-)

Knocking on doors in New Hampshire, I often had a woman's name on my list and not the husband's name. If the husband answered the door and she wasn't home, I would often hear the "I don't know, she doesn't tell me" response.
