  •  NewsCorp accesses teacher & student mobile data (6+ / 0-)

    through their subsidiary Wireless Generation.

According to their own website, nearly a quarter million educators and over four million students -- and that's before the $27 million dollar contract awarded to them in NY.

You see, school districts don't have enough money to pay their teachers but state and local governments sure have enough money to shovel at a Murdoch subsidiary to literally spy on every student in the state.

This is "legitimate" access, by the way -- legitimated by arguments such as "because it's for the children!!!" and "it's the job we were contracted to actually do."

Oh and they're building a data center in Austin, TX -- and are planning to build their own search engine.  So students and teachers can access only "safe" and "approved" information.

    Don't get me started.
