  •  Mr. Lewison, surely you don't mean that... (0+ / 0-)

First, let me tell you that I enjoy reading your diaries and will continue to do so but your conclusion in this one have left me scratching my head.

See, after quoting from the top Senate Democrats,

top Senate Democrats portray McConnell as “cold and calculating” in his handling of the debt crisis, extracting every political advantage out of his position as the lead Republican negotiator in the last stages of the debt talks, even as the prospect of default loomed larger every day.
    ,

    you conclude

Mitch McConnell did his job. Democrats could learn a thing or two from him.

You are kidding right? McConnell is a bloodless reptile who would sell his mother for his political advantage and you think the Democrats should be like him? Mr. Lewison, we Democrats are not like McConnell and that means if we were to be as bloodless and as politically calculative as McConnell, we should not bother fighting at all. We fight because we are not like them, Mr. Lewison. That is the fact. Yes, they did everything possible to make the president fail, even if it meant damning the whole country into a default. They themselves have their millions stashed behind their gated communities and wouldn't care if the rest of us ate shoe soles for food. And you wish we are like McConnell?

Mr. Lewison. The president hasnot failed. We do not know this now because of our tunnell vision. We will know the facts in time.

And you, I hope, are kidding. 'Cause I know you know better.
