Especially when standing up to something as ugly as fascism, which lies and pretends it is recognized authority.

These people are UNrecognizing Scott's authority, and encouraging others to go along.  Scott has pissed on his conservative supporters too, because he lied to them and did not in any meaningful way make it clear that his agenda was actually being written by far-right extremists.

It helps a lot especially with conservative voters who are not particularly partisan, but prefer safe, known, accepted choices.  Large crowd protests give them cover to join the throng, and changes the narrative for them.

It is exactly what we need to do.  Get bodies in the streets protesting all of the right's agenda.

Just in case you forgot today: REPUBLICANS VOTED TO END MEDICARE. AND THEY'LL DO IT AGAIN.

People, in large numbers, including elected officials, police officers, firemen, etc., were able to take the leap to unrecognizing the illegitimate authority of Walker.  Why hasn't it happened elsewhere in the US, such as under the dictator Snyder in Michigan?  I don't know.

Read pp. 1-7 of Krugman's _The Great Unraveling_ (available from Google Books). NOW.
