    is that although I'm more of an intellectual, nonemotional, non-gut level person myself, I can generally recognize situations where taking an emotional/gut approach is actually the best strategy intellectually.

    I think this is one of those cases. I don't think the Egyptian protests would have been nearly as effective if people just turned their back on Mubarak every time he walked by. Instead, they protested--shouted, etc. And while they have not yet won, they did achieve one objective--Mubarak is no longer leading the country.

    They demonstrated solidarity of anger and unhappiness, and that is what (I believe) motivates change. Many people just  want things to be "how they were" and they don't like protest disruptions, that's true. But they are more likely to blame Walker for those disruptions than the people doing them, who they see as motivated by their unhappiness and powerlessness, especially if the protests are frequent and involve seemingly ordinary people (as this one does).
