    I've been saying this forever.  I blame the AFL/CIO--not Reagan.  His mendacity was a given--remember ketchup as a vegetable for school lunches--remember $100/month being too generous for social security minimum?  No, if the AFL asked all union members to boycott air travel--if the pilot union refused to cross picket lines--so many ifs--so little spine.  Hell, supporters could have claimed they stayed away because of safety concerns.  This was a self inflicted wound--we became fat and lazy.  There will be a rebound after there's blood in the streets--or after Goldman/Sachs cries uncle.  Expect the former--the latter wants us to eat cake.
