  •  When it happens it won't involve bussing. (4+ / 0-)

Well, not bussing on OUR part.

It's quite likely we won't get nationwide protests for a while due to the coordination problem.

But when it happens it will be locals protesting in every single city.  Just like it always is.

It is unfortunately quite likely for it to happen in one state at a time.  See Wisconsin.  If a sufficiently dedicated military was moved from state to state to suppress dissent, the protests could be successfully suppressed this way if they weren't nationally coordinated (this has been done before in many countries).

This was done in the Soviet Union; it only failed when troops being moved cross-country to attack (Estonian troops to Moscow and vice versa, stuff like that) started to simply refuse to do it.  We must hope for such failure, and it might happen due to the Republican insistence on mistreating veterans and active duty troops.

Iran's protests were successfully suppressed by similar means, bussing in basiji from non-protesting areas to supress protestors.

Read pp. 1-7 of Krugman's _The Great Unraveling_ (available from Google Books). NOW.
