we cannot digest wood fiber period, from The Street web site.  also whey is not digested by humans.  you add everything we eat including the hormones in all livestock which ingest in america, it is amazing we live as long as we do.  our bodies probably do not decompose quickly after burial with all the preservatives in us.

For everyone to be healthy I think we're going to have to back off of this hyper-industrialized hyper-pesticided food-growing system that only employs a tiny percentage of the population. If we had more small farms, maybe even large-backyard small farms, that used intensive organic growing methods, we could have a lot more people employed in a healthier food system. The growing urban farming movement is helping us get there, I think.

And it's actually healthy for you- much like celery, another good source of fiber and often considered to be negative caloric- meaning it takes more energy to process than it gives in return.

It's not necessarily a bad thing they're filling our ice cream with sawdust to make it creamier, though it does seem disturbing when you first hear about it.
