    (a) The first bike that I lost to theft, just lost once.  Bad on me.
    (b) By Oregon, do you mean Portland?  I remember you mentioned OR in a past SNLC post, but the particular city escapes me (come to think of it, was it Eugene?).

      The bike in my garage now is about 90% complete. The goal is to not spend money until it needs maintenance. The shifters are holding me up at the moment. Total investment so far is about eighty bucks.

      It started out life as a 1974 Raleigh Competition. Ten speeds are not enough and really skinny tires aren't either.

        I've had my bike for 12 years now (bought it used, so don't know how old it was prior).  I'm actually no good at maintaining it myself, but I'm happy to take it to the local bike shop every so often.
