It's too easy sometimes to say, "I can't give much," or "My small amount won't matter," and so give nothing.

It's part of why I tend to support smaller, local charities, over the big national ones -- as much worthy work as they do, my tiny contribution can feel like it'd be meaningless.  (Particularly if they spend it all sending me mailers.)

But this... this needs all of us precisely because it is so big.  And precisely because so little can do so much.  And precisely because the need is so basic.

I have food for today and tomorrow.  I had food yesterday and last week.  That puts me light years ahead of these people, my fellow human beings, even before all my other uncountable luxuries.  (Medicine; electricity; this computer; a safe, warm bed.)

Now I'm thinking I could give more.
