incident was only 30 to 70% my fault.

And yes, if I only had access to my basement, the possibilities for scientific advancements down there would be endless. (Except for this, of course:Now, between the war on terror, the war on drugs, and the Consumer Product Safety Commission's (CPSC's) crackdown on homemade fireworks (C&EN, July 9, 2007, page 31), home science is increasingly coming under attack)

But we'll never know, will we, all because the founding fathers apparently didn't care to build protections pertaining to 21st century marital situations into the constitution, ugh!!

thigh-length white lab coat, pink goggles and gloves, and invite her down to a candle-lit or bunson-burner lit lab (clean, comfy and organized) for some reactive fun with biochemistry.  You'll need a corresponding outfit...maybe going with blue accessories.  Imagine it: periodic table sheets, flowers in test tubes, a modest laser light show with soft music, beakers of beverages in bubbly, fog, perhaps foaming over a bit (into overflow petri-dishes), and you two will be a happy pair, The Secret Reagent Man and Woman, and if not, you'll have had fun trying to experimentally determine the types of strong  and/or weak bonds you may have! may be prudent to put some good locks on that basement door, cover basement windows, and add sound proofing.  Do you suppose agencies might accept your explanation that this basement lab is really just your funky idea of a themed love nest?  Now there's an experiment where we'll need to gather more data, do some peer reviewed work...
