  •  Knowledge is power, (9+ / 0-)

which clearly explains why the American people are so powerless. It has become common practice within our government to not investigate critically important matters (i.e. Iraq war intelligence, the banking crisis, torture, war-crimes etc., in order to prevent the same stuff from happening over and over again) because of the inconvenience that such knowledge might bring (the whole ‘look forward’ shtick).
It’s sad to say, but we deserve this powerlessness. Because progressives have been unsuccessful in convincing people (even within our own party) that the inconvenience of such knowledge (that would be gained through investigations of these critically important matters) is only a small price compared to the price of not having that knowledge, thereby allowing the same kind of stuff to keep happening. How many more critically important matters must be ‘look-forwarded’ before the blinders finally come off?
