....since 1982 has been 0.4%, annual.

But what else do you expect in a county with a top marginal rate of 28%, no inheritance tax, no tax on dividends or capital gains.

The tax take in Mexico is about 11% of GDP, compared to about 34% (federal+state+local) in the US.

And when the center-left candidate for president, AMLO, called for the wealthy to pay their fair share, the reporters and anchors of Televisa branded him a "Marxista".

Such is the political landscape of Mexico.

The PRI and PAN politicians are to the political right of the Tea Party.

via a 16% National Sales Tax.

The affluent in Monterrey take monthly trips to McAllen and Houston, where they buy all their electronic equipment, less the 16% sales tax.

And when the Mexican elite talk about "tax reform", what they mean is increasing the national sales tax.

Because, as the Heritage Foundation says, and as all their University of Chicago-trained technocrats argue, you can't increase the marginal rate on income, even on them most successful.

And if you propose a tax on capital gains, you're a "Marxista".

          look wan.

Beautiful yet maddening comment, because you just know here, there, or anywhere, the Haves would keep pushing, binding the mouths of the kine that tread the grain.
