A man is caught in a flood and climbs to his roof and begins praying to God to save him. While he is praying, a helicopter lowers a ladder to him, but he rejects the help saying, "God will save me."

Shortly afterward, a boat comes by and he is urged to get in, but he continues to pray, saying "God will save me."

    Then he drowns.

When he gets to Saint Peter, he asks "Why didn't God save me?

Saint Peter tells him, "God sent a helicopter and a boat. What more do you want?"

Social Security and Medicare are the helicopter and the boat.

Americans used to believe that God helps those who help themselves, but Perry and his ilk are happy to just pray and help nobody.

neighbor comes by to warn him the water is rising and ask him to come along to higher ground.

      If it's
      Not your body
      Then it's
      Not your choice
      AND it's
      None of your damn business!
