  •  Not enough Tea Partiers to block a deal. (0+ / 0-)

Seems to me there are still a lot of Democrats in the House, and more than a few non-Tea Party (whatever the Tea Party is) Republicans.

    •  You can't just go by pure R numbers. (0+ / 0-)

The tea party caucus is just a sort-of friendly name for the most right of the right wing.  They set the mood for Republicans in 2011.

From Neocon to sane- thanks to Obama- and Kos.

        for Democrats.

Takes exactly 25 Republican votes if Democrats hang together.  If 3/4 of Democrats hang together, takes a bit more than 1/4 of Republicans.

    •  This doesn't help a lot... (0+ / 0-)
and more than a few non-Tea Party (whatever the Tea Party is) Republicans.

The problem is that most of those non-Tea party Republicans seem to be deathly afraid of being primaried by the Tea Partiers.  Consequently, they seem to be afraid of admitting in public that they might actually be sane, for fear of facing that primary challenge.

      •  That might just be true. (0+ / 0-)

A lot of Republicans seem to live in mortal fear of a few silly people making lots of noise.
