Far more people are more like sheep than I'd like to think. And they respond to smaller incentive-structures than I'd like to think.

Unrelated, on a grander scale, the ability of the US right-wing to re-define liberalism away from being the center (which it is) and to lump it into "left-wing" still leaves me nearly speechless.

the assistance and complicity of the media.

Someone like Fox is actively slanting news. Other outlets, let's face it, are just lazy.

Not to bash NPR in particualr, but an example of lazy: something on All Things Considered where some woman was reporting on the people on the "Stupid-Congessmittee" and I couldn't make up my mind if she was doing sports commentary or the red carpet interviews at the Oscars.

I had to turn it off. It was content-free, and the producers should have realized that an it never should have run. Or if so, for 15 seconds and not three minutes  -- or whatever, it seemed endless.

The point being if the right wing hands sensible sounding stuff to national news outlets, they just parrot it.

      Like that's a news flash.

The other point being it's been redefined in the news narrative, but not necessarily among voters.

      Thump! Bang. Whack-boing. It's dub!
