  •  MFP? At least so far, seems to be (12+ / 0-)

in navigating the site to find something resembling wonkery.  I also thought I'd figured out that maybe I was supposed to be looking at congressmatters.com, but I thought I'd read that the dailykos  username and password would be my entry into that site as well, but they don't seem to be working.  Am I supposed to recreate my account over there, and if I use the same name and password, will it give me problems because I've already got them here?

Also, the kosopedia seems dreadfully out of date, and I'm not sure how to update house committee and subcommittee names, even though I was able to figure out how to update the membership of one of the subcommittees from the 110th Congress to the 112th Congress...

    •  Welcome to the site! (9+ / 0-)

You're really that new?  Cool!  The FAQ can be confusing, I know.  A lot of us are still adjusting to the new platform.  As for Congress Matters, I don't know -- maybe shoot David Waldman a message.

      •  Thanks. (8+ / 0-)

I think I'm in a waiting period, as I don't appear to be able to use the inhouse messaging so far.  I was first guided here by a friend, so I've gotten advice on how to do many things, who to 'follow' and so on, but there seem to be some parts that still aren't working, and some things in the preference setup aren't completely intuitive.  (Or I'm simply doing them incorrectly.)  I remember something in the signup about a week-long period of something, so I'll re-evaluate the parts that don't seem to be working after that first week, and if they're still 'not working', I'll ask around to see what I'm doing wrong.

I think 'groups' seem to be something I want to do, but am apparently not allowed to yet.  Is there a group for the House subcommittee on Indian and Alaska Native Affairs or the larger House Committee on Natural Resources?

Aji is active with First Nations stuff.  She's a good one for you to follow.  And she might know about the Congressional committee stuff.  But, and here's the thing, a lot of people here have gotten tired of waiting for Congress to do the right things.  There's a lot of community networking going on around this site, because it's really starting to look like we need to build alternative structures/mutual aid societies as mechanisms to survive this crappy economy.

As for DK4, well, yeah, it's buggy.  It's a whole hell of a lot better than it was, but goddamn, it's buggy.  A lot of us still miss the old platform.  The Cranky Users group can help.  KelleyRN2 set that one up.  If you aren't following her, you should -- she's the resident nurse hotline, and she knows this place inside and out.
