  •  I think the fact that so many are freshmen (10+ / 0-)

    Is almost as important. Hopper was the only freshman in this gang, and he underperformed. He had personal issues, of course, but I think the fact that he'd only ever gone before voters once before probably had an impact. And if we do recalls next year, those frosh will have been in office for an even shorter amount of time than Hopper.

    There's also the sort of "external" factor to look at, which is simply the fact that there are so many freshmen in the 2010 class because it was 2010! Most won with single digits, and some by very narrow margins indeed. As with the U.S. House, there are people who got swept in who really would otherwise never have won. I see a lot of juicy opportunities here.
