Buch of wealthy, white political junkies who think DC is about touring the monuments and protesting at the Capitol.

Joan McCarter has never heard Go-go music in her life.

600,000 residents to a few thousand spoiled rich white folk . . ..

And yes, in a way (compared to the rest of the country) federal government employees have it a bit better (job security-wise, etc) - but they do have to put up with an awful lot of ill-informed venom in the process.

      •  Ana...Ana...Ana gonna go to any places like that! (1+ / 0-)

"After the rally, let's go see the real DC.  I hear Georgetown is very authentic."

a bit after Thanksgiving and went to this place (I kid you not) called "Gaylord" something or another - and they had really, really cool ice sculptures.

I'm not sure if that's real DC or not (rumor has it they had some folk from China drop by to set it all up, but whatever) but Boehner & ilk were no wheres in sight (yay!!)

          •  I've only ever been there... (1+ / 0-)

on a handful of Habitat for Humanity projects, and a trip to the Anacostia Museum that a professor assigned us to make.  I think he was just trying to open the eyes of his students about what it was like to...gasp...walk through a poor neighborhood.

I'm not Mr. Anacostia expert or anything, but FFS I know it's there!  I know it's not full of Undersecretaries and lobbyists "living in a bubble" and doing better than the rest of the country.
