You keep talking about "the DC area."

This poll wasn't about "the DC area."  It's about DC ITSELF.

The DC AREA is not DC.

    They are two different things.

I didn't miss a single word you said.  I pointed out a major misunderstand at the heart of your thinking.

    •  you are not understanding the point. (0+ / 0-)

      a) DC area did not decline at the same rate as most other parts of the US.

      b) this is because massive amounts of money flowed in or kept flowing in to the political class, contractors, etc that populate the DC area.

      c) that is in no way saying that there are not a ton of people hurting in DC - more than in most other areas, in fact.

      d) instead, it's saying that the situation did not DETERIORATE at the same rate, even if worse to begin with.

      e) your distinction between the DC area and the city itself is irrelevant - the city itself didn't deteriorate as much as most other cities as well, even though it was extremely bad before the recession started.

      f) right-track/wrong-track type numbers reflect the rate of change, not the absolute level of poverty, unemployment, etc.

      you understand now?
