  •  But at least ADVOCATE (21+ / 0-)

Propose a bill that will create jobs that Congress won't pass so you can argue to Americans why they need to be voted out! Give people a choice at least. Sometimes losing a battle, but FIGHTING it at least, can put you in better position to win the war. You have to articulate a vision other than "gee, those guys are terrible."

However I COULD use a little more sturm und drang on just HOW terrible those guys are, and that part I unlikely to get.

    •  i think he's starting to finally figure (8+ / 0-)

      this out.

the combination of the latest poll numbers plus the arguments on his staff about which way to go for 2012 plus what is IMO a field trip/focus test on the new message.

I think the president got out of DC and realized how truly fucked up the country is and how absolutely angry/sad/furious/hopeless many of his most ardent supporters  from 2008 are. I think he's realizing "holy shit".

I was pleased to hear him call social security "our greatest social insurance program" rather than repeating the godawful "entitlements" frame. FINALLY.

I swear I hope this snaps him out of it. I hope he spends a ton of time out there on the road and isn't "filtered" from the real anger and frustration going on out here in the world.

I hope he decided "fuck it. i'm offered a kick ass detailed jobs bill that included raising revenue and blah blah blah and I;m going to DARE the GOP to reject it". he seems to be making that indication that he might propose just such a thing and if he does, I hope its crafted in such a way that it exposes EVERYTHING evil about the GOP and its agenda. I also hope the DNC DCSS and DCCC as well as DFA and OFA all have their talking points IN HAND to hammer away relentlessly on this.

      Its WAY past time now.

    •  I agree with that strategy. That would be the (0+ / 0-)

sensible thing to do. I stand up for Obama, but not taking advantage of gifts given to him by the republicans that would expose them over and over again, drives me nuts.
