  •  Do you believe (6+ / 0-)

insulting those you wish to persuade and motivate is a PRAGMATIC approach?

    I certainly do not.

    •  There's plenty of insulting going on (6+ / 0-)

from all sides. It's acceptable from what I can detect here on DK.

I looked at the larger point of the diary and I agree with it. 100%.

you agree with me then that there is nothing pragmatic  about this diary then?

        •  Actually no I don't agree with you (8+ / 0-)

I get her point without wallowing in the word "lazy." Just like I don't wallow in all the stuff President Obama didn't do to please me.

Constant bashing of President Obama is okay I guess. That's what you would call pragmatic? I surely don't. He gets insulted all day long here. As do his supporters.

All day. I see his supporters as people who are fighting back. They should fight back. They are passionate in their support. Just as I am.

Which evidently is a bad thing these days. At least on the internet and with the know it alls in the media.

I know many people who didn't like this or that that President Obama did. But they're respectful and will do all they can to see that he wins next year.

Those are the only Democrats I care about.

          •  But you were already persuaded (1+ / 0-)

            You call it "wallowing."

Fine. Others see it differently. How do you propose to persuade them? And I assume the diary is aimed at that group, given the title.

Personally, when it comes to voting, I care about everyone.

I think you "only Democrats I care about" line is quite unpragmatic in terms of elections.

            •  I am a liberal, a progressive (4+ / 0-)

              A Democrat.

I send messages to the Obama White House when I am disappointed. I have expressed disappointment on line. But I get over it. Like everything in life.

It's been a lovely summer. And I have enjoyed it tremendously. Next summer is strictly campaign mode. And I know I will meet wonderful people who will all have the same goal I do - the re-election Barack Obama.

I can't wait. I have zero interest in fighting with people at DKos who are disappointed in him. I have zero interest in trying to sway them. I do my swaying with people that I meet personally. I do it every single day. And I have noticed that Republicans who I know like him. Not because of his policies, as they believe he is a socialist or whatever the latest name is. But they do like him as I do my level best to bring out the comparisons between him and Romney, etc. The President always comes out ahead in these conversations.

Presidencies always have regrets, disappointments. Always.

I gave him as much money as just about anyone perhaps. I don't know if my voice is heard, but I keep sending messages to the White House. It's what you do as a citizen. It's what you do in a democracy.

All I do know is at the end of the day, I will never ever quit on him.

Never. And I will support his supporters 100%. I admire them a great deal.

The Bill Mahers of the world I have tired of. President Obama is as hard working a president as we will ever have I imagine.

And I intend to work very hard for him in return next year.

suggests that the diarist differs from you in this - "I have zero interest in fighting with people at DKos who are disappointed in him. I have zero interest in trying to sway them."

That is the basis of my comments.

grow a pair? The fact that you're quibbling over the word "lazy" tells me I've struck a nerve. Once again, you're using the techiques of the Teabaggers and Sarah Palin: move the goalpost, deflect attention from the real matter, make yourself the victim.

Tell me, were you born a ratfucker or is it an acquired art?

Insults are the name of the game at DKOS.

    •  Um, Armando? (5+ / 0-)

If you were driving the wrong way down a one-way street, and someone shouted out, "Hey Asshole! You're going the wrong fucking way, idiot!", would you notice your error, and turn the car around, or would you be so butthurt over being called an asshole and an idiot, not to mention having an F-Bomb dropped on you, that you'd just flip them off and drive faster?

I think you need to re-read this diary and notice the parts where the author is spot-on about how the Rethugs have been kicking our asses for over 40 years. We're in a fight for our lives with people who will stop at nothing to see us freezing and starving in the streets. The time for polite niceties is long since past. If you really want to spend your energies on putting "civility" into politics, why don't you go spend a day with Ann Coulter and her fans, and see what kind of headway you make with them by being nice and polite?  Please be sure and let us know how that works out for you.
