That's bullshit. If he only cared about himself, why was he a community organizer or go into politics in the first place? With this guy's record, he could've gone into any profession and made tons of money. You think he went into politics to screw people? Give me a break,

You know, with his senate career he could've done that already. There are a VAST number of places President Obama could be making more money and in a perverse sense, hold more power, than President of the United States. With very little downside, as those people making the lecture circuits and the like will pretty much escape the notice of everyone except for the unusually informed/engaged people at DailyKos.

If this is a way to a lifetime of wingnut welfare and the like, this is sure a long and torturous (and expensive) path to do it.

Did you guys remember that President Obama already made tons of money before he was President? After all the work he'd done he was already set for life.

            •  This one really had me ROTFLOL! You're (0+ / 0-)

really reaching, and should give it up before you break something.  A short term ex-senator could make the same kind of money on the lecture circuit as an ex-president, hey?

And please tell me where he'd hold more power than as President of the United States.

I mean, really.  At least say something that doesn't make us laugh until we cry.

He'd have more power on Wall Street. Wouldn't he?

After all, it is an article of faith that he's the "Wall Street President." Right?

Lecture circuit is but one idea. In fact, there's lots of people that make tons of money on lecture circuits and they weren't President. People pay to hear Barack Obama's story.

If you're looking for money and power why not go right to the source? Right?

This is especially considering that, well, if he weren't President he probably would've continued being a Senator. I see no reason that Senator Obama wouldn't have continued being returned to the Senate year after year, given the way he campaigns and the amount of sway he has with people personally.

      •  The community organizer has become (15+ / 0-)

one of the most powerful people in the world.  He is surrounded by wealthy and powerful people, who provide him with advice and counsel.  There are no poor people in the President's inner circle (nor have there been any in previous administrations).  There are no powerless people in his inner circle.  The people he is surrounded by--and listens to--are friends of Jamie Dimon's, such as Tim Geithner and Larry Summers.

People can and do change over time--and beliefs can and do change as well.  Power changes people, as does the source of daily advice.  There's nothing from the past three years to suggest that the community organizer remained one.

Oh, you dear sweet liberal voter ...

No, seriously:  there was a time it was possible to believe that Barack Obama WAS of the Public Service school of politician ...

For me, right up until Inauguration Day, when he told us that WE were "who we had been waiting for."

"We" hadn't been able to accomplish squat when BushCo was in power ..

But Obama LLC has been no more responsive, transparent or accountable  to "Us" than BushCo was.

Yes, I know ... any Republican will be so much worse.

      •  And he hasn't made tons of money in politics? (0+ / 0-)

Hmmm.  I'm pretty sure his millions weren't inherited.
