I'll be honest I'm clueless on this... Is there anything explicitly wrong with them or is it merely the fact that they're a multinational corporation? I was expecting it to be Caterpillar or something.

I'll be honest, I kind of have to catch as catch can as this stuff really isn't encouraged where I go to school. I do think that the role corporations play in international agreements and demostic agendas is really understudied from a political science perspective. Thanks for the tip!

        •  our world is run by corporations (8+ / 0-)

and the ruling class that they fund.....

take a closer look at what political actions our President has initiated and what has transpired....

look at his actions concerning the largest demonstrations of organized labor since the 30's.....

look at the compromises he says he has had to make.....

Looking at the identity of Obama's individual donors has taken folks down a lot of false paths.

A better guess is that so many Random House employees donated to Obama because most of their employees live and work in Manhattan, which is a fortress of Democratic Party support.

            Anyway:

It's not who donated to Obama.

It is who did not spend money against him.

During his campaign, candidate Obama felt that he had to neutralize the oligarchic class who kept threatening to derail the Democratic candidate by running a third-party Unity '08 spoiler, by financing anti-Obama PACs, etc.

So, Obama met with these folks -- Bloomberg, Jamie Dimon, Warren Buffet, etc. and got their support by promising to be the Unity '08 candidate himself and not the class warrior that the Democratic base wanted.

            So, they held their fire.

My opinion:  This is the influence that was and is being exerted over the president -- not some remote German media group.

And in this light it makes it kind of silly to despise the President (except perhaps for not forgoing reelection and pulling the rug out on Bloomberg and Dimon)

Of course, this also makes it clear how outrageous it is when Obama staffers puch hippies, but that I think is not coming from Obama.

than any other explanation of Obama's behaviors, policies and rhetoric of any I have read in over four years. I wish everyone here would read this, process it and understand that Obama is not a Secret Oligarch, but a man who had to cut a deal with the least toxic and most sane of the richest .01 percent to get them to sit on their hands and NOT run Mike Bloomberg? or some spoiler candidate which could have made John McCain and Sarah Palin our Executive Team.

Obama's heart is in the right place, but he knows that "The System" is rigged. There is NO WAY to get enough money together to prevent a total takeover of the Wall Street Gang and the Oil Patch Gang and the Fundy Gang unless you deal with the Moderate Wing of the Oligarch Class.

It is the corrupt influence of vast quantities of money in our Republic, and it is what Jefferson and Madison warned us about. We are in a very, very precarious situation. Obama may not be re-elected if they sense that he will turn Progressive after a second term election. He is playing his cards VERY close to his chest.

              Unlike 1992 and 1996.

In 2008 We the People were fired up and pissed off at what Bush had done ot the country, and we wanted change.

No third party candidate could have quelled the tidal wave victory that Obama (or any half reasonable Democrat) got - lessened the margin of victory, perhaps; but Obama would have won regardless.

But again this perhaps shows Obama's  nature to capitulate before the cards are even on the table - a character flaw we as supporters didn't fully understand until the HC debacle, to our ultimate chagrin.

He was bought and paid for way before he became president.  I figured as much.  Why else would the Powers That Be have allowed him to become president?  Ever wonder why Reverend Wright's tapes weren't exposed until after Obama was hopelessly ahead of Hillary in the primary?  Those things come out in December 2007, and we're all railing against President Clinton today.

No "class warrior" will EVER be permitted to become president (Howard Dean?), unless he warring FOR the oligarchs.

            •  this was not a donation, this was an advance (0+ / 0-)

of phony baloney money in the area of 2 (two) million dollars for his book on change and hope.....or hope and change.....

just a quick question, were you in the room when he met with all those libs...?
