ideology, which was libertarianism in the Austrian School of Economics tradition. Obama I do not think is similarly blinded. I think Obama started out as a real Keynesian, probably social democrat at heart, but hit a wall on Keynesian policy (partially because he was committed to civility, but that's another debate), and then got punished for the inefectivity of fiscal half measures and the overall economic climate. I think now he's basically saying to the powers that be: you convinced me, I can't do this without you, what's the plan, even though he keeps throwing up when he sees what they have to offer. Eventually he gets tired of throwing up and chooses the lesser of how ever many evils. I think he is confined and that it may be in our interest for him to speak out, but that isn't going to happen until our electorate and his base get much more hip to what's really going on.

I think I have simply stopped caring. No matter how conservative or progressive Obama is, we're stuck with him for the next 5 Years IF we're lucky. I am already processing that, but what interests me now is understanding WHY we have so few choices. That is no simple answer.
