    I don't think, given the rate at which our society is failing, that such a practice is so far off.  Communities can organize both of those things--food and health care-- along cooperative or collective lines.  Community gardens are popping up in urban areas, and they're a step in that direction.  What's needed for health care are professionals willing to forgo high salaries and CYA (cover-your assets) malpractice insurance.

    Not surprisingly, one of the main obstacles would be government licensing requirements.  These are currently being used to harass Food Not Bombs when they try to feed the hungry.
