    It's quite separate. VTA rail acts more like BART does on the outskirts and more like a streetcar system in downtown SJ. Buses feed the VTA rail stops just as they feed Caltrain stops but the buses are in traffic and (believe me, I have biked beside them) are not especially "rapid."

    Whatever ends up happening on Van Ness Ave, and perhaps on Geary Blvd, in the City will feed rail transit (MUNI and BART) only at one end--the downtown end of a Geary BRT line (which would actually need to end once it reaches Franklin Street) and the Market Street end of a Van Ness BRT.
