We can certainly argue whether businesses pay their full ride but they do pay fuel taxes, road use taxes, and licenses; supposedly to fund our highways and bridges at both the federal and state levels.  If those taxes are not sufficient, it's our elected representatives that are at fault.  Snow/ice removal and emergency services are nearly always local and state funded so that any under taxation of businesses in that regard is a local preference.

Liberty without justice is impossible; justice without liberty is unbearable.

    •  I pay all those taxes, too. (0+ / 0-)

Perhaps you've not heard about the crumbling condition of our roads and bridges in this country.  Perhaps you missed the news of the bridge collapse in Minnesota which killed people.  If those taxes were enough to keep our roads in good repair, then you'd have an argument to make.  But obviously, they aren't.  Hence, you don't.

States receive federal money to help fund things like snow removal, fire, police, and ambulance services.  They filter it down to the local levels from there.  Yes, there are state and even some local taxes collected for these things as well, but your position ignores the federal funding needed to make these things happen effectively.

Also, you neglect to address defense, the courts, and the various federal agencies they use.

Finally, when I make several hundred million dollars in one year and attempt to claim a tax deduction, I'll be cheating my nation out of my fair share of the financial burden just like these businesses are doing and have been doing for years.

Struggle with dignity against injustice. IS there anything more honorable that a person can do?
