Many people enter the the field of education for noble reasons.  Fortunately, they're self reflective enough to know that they are not good at their job (Michelle Rhee), don't have the temperament for the often long, slow slog of properly educating children (Michelle Rhee), or don't have the patience for the daily grind of working effectively with kids and their parents (Michelle Rhee).

Most of these people move on or are fired - 50% of new teachers leave the profession with 5 years.   I applaud those people who understand that work in this field is not for them.  They save a lot of people a lot of heartache.  These people spent thousands of dollars and  years of schooling to prepare for a job that they then find they're not well suited for.   Sometimes the leaving is the noble, selfless gesture.

Unfortunately, Michelle Rhee does not have the ability to reflect on the quality of her work and instead goes for the quick and dirty solution at the expense of low income students and their families.  I'd say that she's another sad case of incompetence, but she knows exactly who and what she's promoting and that's what makes her a fraud.

    •  I see your point. But I'm no teacher (0+ / 0-)

myself, I could never handle 30 kids, no way. Let alone teach them something. So I have a great deal of respect for those that do. Basically, even if she is the very worst teacher in the country, I still find a great deal to respect in that. Maybe she should not be part of our educational system, that sounds very likely given her behavior. The only thing I've said here is that I cannot hate teachers (or administrators) because as far as I am personally concerned, they all are doing more for the kids than I am. They're all heroes compared to me (I'm a business guy).

Don't tell me what you believe. And don't tell me what you do. I barely know you.
