  •  The ones who forget where they came from kill me. (11+ / 0-)

I have two cousins that "married up".

The one was raised on welfare with major health problems growing up that medicaid paid for, her schooling was paid for by the government between her parents tiny income, and her being a native American;  the other got pregnant in high school and raised her daughter on welfare.

But both were extremely pretty and ended up marrying well-off men.

Anyway now they're total teabaggers going to glenn beck's stupid protests in Washington D.C., against taxes of any kind, against welfare, against social security, against medicare. Just your garden variety "I got mine" assholes.

The one with the daughter is a lost the cause, the other is changing her tune now though... Only because she spent 12 years in school to be a specialized accountant. The type that only government hires, and now that she's finally finished school and can't get a job due to the government hiring freezes, NOW she's rethinking her whole teabagger mentality.

Cracks me. I laughed and laughed and laughed at her, asked her how it felt knowing she protested herself right out of her dream job that she'd worked her entire adult life for?

I take every opportunity I get to remind them that I have never in my life received government assistance, and only ever claim the standard deduction on my income taxes because I feel it is my patriotic duty to pay every cent of taxes I should pay so that others can get the help they need, just like my two cousins did.

Boy oh boy do they ever hate being reminded that they were on welfare, and I know it's kind of a dickhead move on my part to keep bringing it up, but if they weren't such selfish, inhuman shitheads I wouldn't do it... but they are, and so I do.

It sounds like someone was fuzzy about that whole "government" thing. (Actually, I've noticed that quite often with teabaggers- the complete ignorance in regards to what the government actually does- "keep your government hands off my Medicare" anyone?)

the inlaws with 4 grandchildren and not a husband in sight for the daughters.  One daughter is on disability and has raised her kids completely on the government dime and the other used wic and education help during her momhood.  The parents are always bitching about the black girls in nursing school for free that don't study because it is all handed to them and the teachers just pass them through while the mom had to work her ass off.  (I don't understand that one)  The food stamps buying steak etc.  The disconnect is so bad that I leave the room now.  I can't bear the hate.  I can't fight it anymore.  I have decided that the grief they feel about their children is manifesting itself in their hateful attitude.  They can project their discomfort of the situation onto others.
