Great news. Good sign for Tenth Lady Christie Vilsack as well.

      •  What do you think of Tom's suggestion (0+ / 0-)

that this might be due to increased exposure of the candidates in the state? I'm not sure if it's true for Romney, since I am pretty sure he's been there far less than the others, but it does  seem kind of plausible, at least for the others.

I also think it does poke a few holes in the theory, not espoused by people here but a few in other places, that Obama's problem is with white America. He's pretty close to break even with his approval in Iowa, and of course, he still leads all of them by more than he beat McCain by in 2008.

    •  I can't say I am surprised. Iowa had a lot (3+ / 0-)

of exposure to Obama during the primaries and really seemed to take to him. The enthusiasm for him was amazing.

On the other hand, my Iowa relatives (Dem and Rep) are horrified by the spectacle of Bachmann, Perry and Palin in their state.

For all of the talk of a big decline in Obama's support amongst Democrats and/or a bigger decline in enthusiasm, I can't help but think that this will be quelled and reversed once we have a clear picture of who are opponent will be and the craziness really starts.
