When most of what you read is either the Bible, books that significantly quote from the Bible, or things your childhood pastor said were okay for Christians to read, AND you avoid most modern English Bible translations on account of gender-inclusive terms being used where the original Hebrew or Greek used gender-inclusive or -neutral terms, your functional vocabulary tends to be a couple of generations off.

There are groups that use the 1611 KJV and Webster's original dictionary from the 1800s. Like, right now, in their churches and in their homeschooling programs. And they are proud about it. Focus On The Family was even connected to a DVD video series The Truth Project that claimed anything later than that dictionary had been influenced by anti-Christian forces (as I recall, Jesus not being mentioned in the definition of the word 'Truth' in later editions featured heavily in the justification).

Prayers and best wishes to those in Japan.

I tried to reflect on your thoughtful words but halfway through I stopped.
      And I wondered.
      Are you dark-sided?:
