This comment is my opinion, and in no way does it advocate the violent overthrow of the government, as this jerk does. There are plenty of comments by those three that incite people towards hatred and hatred can often lead to volience. It was not too long ago that Bachman called for her constituents to come out "armed and dangerous". Trump questioning the whole birther issue, and Perry insinuating this President doesn't love America, at least not like he does. The whole notion of "taking our country back" which has propelled these people to running for President has a hidden message behind it. I see this as beyond simple partisanship, and flirting with hatred towards this President. That kind of hatred can never be productive.

"Plenty of comments" is usually shorthand
for "I don't like this person so it doesn't matter if there's anything to what I say."

That said, you are completely entitled to your opinion, and there is no obligation whatsoever for you to support it with facts.

And yes, it is too much to compare you to this clown without something more to go on. Not fair on my part.

As to statements by the candidates, given Democrats' fondness for symbolism, I have trouble seeing anything worng with metaphors like "armed and dangerous" or "taking our country back".

Frankly, I'm all in favor of taking our country back from the corrupt crew in DC.  Vote 'em all out, as far as I'm concerned. Nothing violent or inappropriate about that.

      •  Your idea of "taking our country back" (0+ / 0-)

and their ideas are very different. You know as well as I do exactly what they mean when they say that. It is a long way from taking our country back from the corrupt crew in D.C. they are ready and willing and able to install their own corrupt crew.
When people show up at a Presidential speech with loaded weapons it is no longer simply an metaphor, "armed and dangerous".
It is simply a romantic notion to think a rag-tag band of irrate, fed up citizens carried the election in 2010. It was the corporate moneyed interests that won that election, the same people who have co-opted the tea party and their anger. This is not a "grass roots" effort in the least. It is a bunch of people who can not accept the fact that the President of this country is African American. People with lots of money and lots of power exploited those feelings and not only funded these people, but fueled the hatred as well. I am not a big fan of many Democrats either, they are just as corrupt as the rest of them. However, I feel the Democrats rely more on the middle class American rather than the corporate class to get them re-elected, so at least with a Democratic Congress and a Democratic President we have a fighting chance. Many of us are not weathy enough to influence the Republican party. So you have to pick a side, that is how things are, and I chose the Democrats. Your desire to "vote them all out " is commendable, but not realistic. I don't see it happening any time soon.

        •  I'm not aware that Bachmann, Perry, or (0+ / 0-)

any other candidate showed up at a Presidential speech with loaded weapons, bit --

          So what?
You are talking about legal protests, not attempts at violence and not illegal.
That's more than can be said for armed thugs standing outside the door of a polling place in Philadelphia on election day.

As to romantic notions, the idea you cling to -- that a band of Nobles will ride to your rescue seems pretty silly to me.

          •  Not so sure Perry doesn't carry a loaded weapon (0+ / 0-)

at all times, but that was not my point. The people who support them do just this.
With your remarks about the Philadelphia polling place on election day, are you referring to the "Black Panthers"? I was not aware they were armed.
What  got me the most excited about the election of  Barack Obama was, it was a grass roots movement, a pure and honest one. Sure he got money from big donors, but they didn't own the movement as the big money people own the Tea Party movement. I will be 66 in December, and for a very long time, I have been wanting the people to actually stick together and accomplish good things. In 2008 we came the closest to that ever happening. The tea party is bullshit, and a cheap knock off of that.
BTW, I don't expect anyone to ride to my rescue. I am capable of taking care of myself. I gave up the notion of the "white knight" a long time ago. I make my own decisions, chose my own path and accept responsibility for my actions, good or bad.
