    Duracell have a line of self-contained power sources called the Powerpack, the Powerpack 600 (DPP-600HD) being the largest at 600 watt-hours.  These units have sealed batteries, built-in inverters to provide AC power, and DC input/output sockets to allow charging from a variety of sources.  If you search on Amazon for the above part number you will get a comparison chart that is more useful than Duracell's web site, although Duracell does have a useful chart of expected loads (avg cell phone = 20 watts).

    You could match up one of these with a cheap solar array (also from Amazon or from Lowes) or the aforementioned bicycle charger to keep essentials running for quite a while.
