  •  It's confusing *me*. (0+ / 0-)

I was just listening to Trumka's comments at the lead-up to the (for now) delayed MLK memorial unveiling, and he said that Obama was important, not just b/c he was the first African-American president, but because he carried on MLK's vision and values.

Which blows me away as an extraordinarily inept comparison, since MLK got killed while participating in a worker's movement for better pay in Memphis, and Obama can't even get behind EFCA or pass a jobs bill, and, in fact, seems eager to take away what little the workers have by cutting Social Security.

Dr. King knew what it meant to put on a pair of comfortable shoes, as they say.

My reaction was, huh, Trumka seems to be carrying Obama's water for him by making overblown comparisons and trying to resurrect the hopes of 2008.

Guess I should have finished listening to his speech; apparently there was something in there critical of Obama to lead Politico to go on the rampage.
