  •  We've rallied behind exactly 2 Senate primary (0+ / 0-)

challengers in the 4 prior cycles for which I've been on this site.  Neither of those challengers (Lamont in '06 and Halter in '10) won.  I've yet to see any indication that any Senate challenges are planned for '12, and the AFL-CIO has expressly eschewed primary challenges.

I'd be thrilled to support a primary challenger this cycle.  I eagerly donated to Lamont and to Halter, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.  I don't, however, see it happening at present.

What I won't do is get enthused over the likes of Warner*, McCaskill, and Tester in the name of reform this cycle like we did in 2006..

    *I know, he's not running.

Some men see things as they are and ask why. I dream of things that never were and ask why not?

I don't think the diary is asking people to run only for national office (though in some cases, it would be a worthwhile endeavor).

While the site semi-officially rallied behind only two US Senate primary challengers, I'd wager that just about everyone here has worked hard for candidates at a variety of levels everywhere in the country, and many of those candidates won.

We will never be able to swing the political pendulum back if we only push at the pivot from which the pendulum hangs. We need to put lots and lots of effort at the bottom of the pendulum - building an unstoppable farm team.

Once the bear eats your friend, there's no one left to outrun. And it'll still be hungry.
