    But the mainstream public square is the corporate media and they don't admit most of the information and viewpoints that mainstream voters need to see to be rationally and factually oriented about the state of the country.

    Electoral politics are now dominated some 10:1 by corporate money compared to money from individuals because of issue advertising opened up by C.U. But even without that decision, our prehistorically crafted press freedom combined with the modern conglomerated corporate age would mean that the people couldn't have a very strong role in debate. Plus the fact that ceding campaign funding to such an economy means that popular impact on politics is becoming negligible.
