  •  That is an anti vaccination talking point (5+ / 0-)

It is well known and not hidden by medical professionals that vaccines are good but not 100% effective in every case. Most vaccinated children receive immunity but not all and it is not possible to know whether a given child is immune without an antibody test which is generally not done. That is why it is important to maintain high levels of immunization, to ensure that herd immunity is working for the population as a whole.

    •  And yours is a pro vaccination talking point (0+ / 1-)

Based on your answers, you say that even a vaccine won't prevent an infection because they aren't 100% effective.  I can only conclude the the fear about people who choose not to vaccinate is unwarranted.

      •  what is 100% in medicine? (4+ / 0-)

that is a denialist's debating point, arguing that if a certain practice or procedure does not have 100% efficacy, it is of no use.  If you have ever lived through an epidemic, you know that even if vaccination is not 100% it is still preferable to the alternate of no vaccination at all.

Also vaccination is usually one aspect of a complete public health program such as malaria control where mosquito nets are also given out while there are active mosquito eradication programs.  To be sure the alternative of risking malaria is not preferable

I said it usually does prevent infection but not always. Big difference. You seem to want it to be all or nothing.

It's like a seatbelt. Cannot prevent 100% of injuries but prevents a lot of them.

The more people who don't immunize, the higher the chances you are to be exposed to a disease.

      •  So you're also in favor of allowing drunk driving (1+ / 0-)

since drunk driving laws don't stop all drunk driving deaths.

And you're in favor of letting kids have handguns, since banning that doesn't stop all school shootings.

Your argument is A LOAD OF CRAP. This anti-vax nonsense endangers the lives of children, intentionally and maliciously, and you're going to get the nasty response that sort of behavior deserves. Take your garbage to a republican anti-science blog where it belongs.
