  •  If slowing CO2 is insufficient, why bother? Belief (0+ / 0-)

in a miracle (changing the direction of climate change) is religious fervor.  In the fastest growing economies, Brazil and China, how are the green jobs, businesses, industries fareing?

Some...spoke with strong and powerful voices, which proclaimed in accents trumpet-tongued,"I am beautiful, and I rule". Others murmured in tones scarcely audible, but exquisetly soft and sweet, "I am little, and I am beloved"." Armandine A.L. Dupin

    •  I am a scientist and 60..... (0+ / 0-)

so I have seen many changes that have improved seemingly unsolvable problems.  I have seen the green revolution and improved agriculture feed people where there once was famine.  I have seen populations stop growing as economic conditions improved.  I have seen rivers and great lakes with improved water quality.  I have seen death and asthma rates fall as air quality improved, as well as improvements to holes in ozone layers.  I have seen greatly improved energy usage through conservation, and I have seen what happens when Hummers and giant SUVs resume wasteful gas consumption.  I have seen cap and trade work pretty well.  I live in WV and we are exporting clean coal tech to China even as we refuse to push for it here.  Brazil is doing OK with ethanol from sugar cane as well as recognizing the complexity of preserving forests while using them efficiently.  China is busting the US on cheaper solar panels.  I think we need to work on the CO2 problem, not throw our hands up in the air with complaints that it is too late or too expensive or we don't really know how to fix the problem.  We found cures for HIV in my lifetime.  Our science kicks butt.  We need to put the scientists and entrepreneurs on the problem with government support.
