keep that false information out of his testimony.  He lost the argument (See: Cheney and Rummy) and thus his biggest failure, he gave false information.  As Powell alludes to this often, I don't think he has forgiven himself, and rightly so in my opinion.

Fight tooth and nail, I mean.  But, as you observe, "he gave false information".  Losing a debate does not excuse going ahead and presenting false information that led to many deaths...both American and Iraqi.  Losing that debate should have resulted in his resignation and public opposition to the plans of Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld.  It didn't.  Instead, he made a conscious decision to go to the UN and present this information, which he knew was false.

I had immense respect for Colin Powell.  That changed after the events of 2003.  If the General feels guilty about his actions, he should offer his testimony to the ICC.  If nothing else, they can try Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld et. al. in absentia.  That would not be very satisfying...but it would be something.  Continuing to ignore the presence of these war criminals and treat them as honorable men/women is condoning the crimes they committed.

Also, President Obama could regain some of my respect for him by signing the ICC treaty.  If he doesn't have the courage to go after the war criminals himself, he should at least make it clear that any future such crimes will be punishable by international action, regardless of the social station of the perpetrator(s).

      Terror has no religion.
